Attendees will be able to participate virtually through CCC TechConnect’s Zoom and an interactive platform
CCC TechConnect is excited to present the 2021 Online Teaching Conference (OTC) June 21-23, 2021. This year’s theme is “Empowering the Online Teaching Community” and highlights OTC’s role as a premiere event for educators to share and access the latest best practices in online learning.
For the second year in a row, OTC will be held completely, and fittingly, online. One of the benefits of a virtual conference is the ability to bring more voices to the table, from all over the world, with last year’s event hosting a record 11,000 participants.
This year, OTC is proud to feature California Community Colleges Chancellor Eloy Ortiz Oakley as the presenter of the keynote address: “Equity-Minded Teaching Online.”
“We had a wonderful response to our call for proposals and are thrilled to be able to present a great lineup,” said Tiffiny Hickey, Marketing and Conference Manager for CCC TechConnect.
The schedule, consisting of 50 sessions to choose from plus optional pre-conference workshops, is packed with learning opportunities addressing effective online learning, equity, support & resources, technology innovation and more. Some of the featured topics include authentic assessments, mental health resources, Canvas features, course design, and creating community & connections within the online environment. “There are so many things to do at OTC '21 - the virtual lunchtime 'unconference sessions’, exhibitor gallery, live networking chat, and so much more,” said Hickey.
To further create an online community in the virtual environment, OTC ’21 will be featuring ‘unconference sessions’ as opportunities for like-minded attendees to connect and share by taking part in informal, participant-driven meetups where those who attend decide on the agenda. Participants facilitate the discussions and have on-the-fly conversations and collaborations on key issues for the group.
“The unconference format creates space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity. It is intended to help attendees find the time and space to talk with and learn from each other,” said Mirna Castaneda-Tinney, CCC TechConnect’s Marketing Communications Coordinator.
The unconference sessions will be held during the designated lunch hour on June 22 and 23. Attendees will be encouraged to grab their lunch; find a topic they want to discuss or contribute to and join the conversation.
OTC ’21 costs $150 for access to all sessions. There are also special Pre-Conference Workshops available for purchase at an additional fee. To register visit OTC Registration.
OTC is a non-profit event funded under a California Community Colleges Chancellors Office grant, and organized and presented by CCC TechConnect.
